Taxes
Overview
The Taxes feature in Mysched allows you to add and manage taxes for your services, ensuring compliance with tax regulations in different regions. Since tax rates can vary by country or region, this feature offers flexibility to apply different tax rates based on service type and location.
For instance, in Germany, the VAT (Mehrwertsteuer - MwSt.) is 19%, which can be applied to service prices. The Taxes feature lets you create custom tax rates and apply them to specific services and locations, or across all services and locations if no filters are applied.
Setting Up Taxes
To enable and configure taxes in Mysched, follow these steps:
-
Create a New Tax:
- Navigate to the Taxes section in the Mysched admin panel.
- Click Add New Tax to create a new tax rate.
- Enter a descriptive name for the tax (e.g., VAT or Sales Tax).
- Set the tax percentage that will be applied to the service price.
-
Filter by Location or Service:
- You can apply the tax to specific locations or services by using the Location and Service filters.
- If no filters are selected, the tax will be applied universally to all services and locations.
By using these filters, you can ensure that taxes are applied only to the relevant services and in the applicable locations.
Note: Multiple taxes can be applied to a single service if required.
Applying Multiple Taxes
In some cases, a service may be subject to more than one tax. For example, you may have a VAT and a Regional Tax. Mysched allows you to assign multiple taxes to the same service. When both taxes are applied, the total tax amount will be calculated and added to the final price.
Thus, you can ensure that all relevant taxes are included, helping you meet regulatory requirements.
Displaying Taxes in Notifications and Invoices
Mysched provides a special keyword to display the total tax amount in your notifications, invoices, and other related documentation:
- {appointment_tax_amount}
This keyword can be used in the Workflow module, Invoices, Google Calendar events, or any order descriptions. By adding this keyword to your templates, you can display the exact tax amount applied to the appointment, ensuring transparency for both your customers and your staff.
Example Use Case
Let’s say you are running a business in Germany, where the VAT is 19%, and you also have an additional local tax of 5% for certain services. You can create two separate taxes:
- VAT (19%): Apply this to all services.
- Local Tax (5%): Apply this only to specific services or locations using the filters.
Both taxes will then be automatically calculated and applied to the service price at checkout, and the total tax amount can be displayed in customer notifications and invoices using the {appointment_tax_amount} keyword.
Conclusion
The Taxes feature in Mysched makes it easy to configure and apply taxes to your services, whether you are managing a single tax rate or multiple taxes. By allowing you to filter taxes by location and service, Mysched ensures that you can meet all regulatory requirements while providing clear and accurate billing to your customers.
