SMS Verification
Overview
The SMS Verification feature in Mysched provides an added layer of security to your booking process by using One-Time Passwords (OTP) sent via SMS. This verification system ensures that the person making the booking is the rightful owner of the phone number they provide, significantly reducing the risk of fraudulent activity.
Important Note:
All OTP SMS messages are sent through Mysched’s pre-configured phone number using the Twilio Verify service. Tenants do not need to purchase their own Twilio number, nor can they send OTP messages from their own number.
Why Use Twilio SMS Verification?
In today’s digital environment, securing online transactions is critical. The OTP SMS Verification feature helps protect your booking process by ensuring that every booking is verified with an OTP sent directly to the customer’s mobile phone. This extra step strengthens the trust between your business and your customers, providing peace of mind and securing sensitive information.
Key Benefits:
- Enhanced Security: Protects your booking process from unauthorized access by verifying the customer's phone number.
- Effortless Integration: The feature is seamlessly integrated into the booking panel, maintaining a smooth user experience.
- One-Time Verification: Customers only need to verify their phone number once, streamlining future bookings.
How OTP SMS Verification Works
1. Customer Enters Phone Number:
During the Information Step of the booking process, customers will be prompted to enter their phone number.
2. Send OTP:
Once the phone number is provided, the customer clicks the Verify button. Mysched will send an OTP to the entered phone number via SMS using Twilio’s Verify service.
3. Enter OTP:
The customer will receive the OTP on their mobile phone. They will need to enter the OTP into the provided field on the booking page to verify their phone number.
4. Verification Confirmation:
Upon entering the correct OTP, the customer's phone number is verified, allowing them to proceed with their booking.
- If the OTP is incorrect, they will have the opportunity to re-enter the correct code or request another OTP.
- Once verified, the phone number does not need to be verified again for future bookings from the same customer.
Features of Twilio SMS Verification
1. Security at Every Step
By requiring customers to verify their phone number with an OTP, you add a significant layer of security to your booking process. This ensures that only the rightful owner of the phone number can complete the booking, greatly reducing the risk of unauthorized or fraudulent bookings.
2. Simplicity and Ease of Use
The OTP verification process is simple and user-friendly. When customers reach the Information Step in the booking panel, they just need to enter their phone number and click "Verify." The OTP will be sent directly to their phone, and after entering the OTP, they can continue with their booking seamlessly.
3. One-Time Verification Convenience
Once a customer’s phone number has been verified, they won’t need to verify it again for future bookings. This makes the process faster and more convenient for returning customers, while maintaining security for your business.
4. Automatic Integration with Twilio Verify
Mysched uses Twilio’s reliable Verify service to handle OTP generation and SMS delivery. All SMS messages are sent from Mysched’s pre-configured number, so tenants do not need to worry about managing or configuring their own Twilio accounts or numbers.
Scenario: Clinic Appointment Booking
Imagine a clinic that schedules online appointments. As part of the booking process, they want to ensure that the person making the appointment is genuine and can be reached for important reminders. By enabling Twilio SMS Verification, the clinic ensures that:
- The Customer’s Phone Number Is Verified: The customer enters their phone number, receives an OTP, and enters it on the booking page to confirm their identity.
- Reduced No-Shows: By verifying the phone number, the clinic can be confident that appointment reminders and important updates will reach the right person.
- Streamlined Future Bookings: Once verified, the customer will not need to re-verify their phone number, making future bookings quick and easy.
